learning through pain

Many of you may remember this post back in September about youth group. Well, I have a bit of an update for y'all!

As I mentioned in that post, I learned a lot by going back to my church's youth group, both from the actual lesson and the experience. I have been going since then, and continued to be blessed by the fellowship and teaching. This is not specifically about youth group, though. It's about my church, and how important the family of God is to a Christian. Now, I have a lot to say here, so grab some hazelnut coffee and a snuggie if you'd like to read what I have to say.

a new year!

So I might start blogging semi-regularly now. I don't think anyone really reads my blog anymore since I haven't posted much at all in the past few months though, so the only reason I'd keep posting is to sort my own thoughts out. But I might occasionally post something interesting... you never know. ;)

Happy New Year to all of you! I realize it's already a week into the new year, but I've enjoyed it so far. My college classes give a four-week break, and I've definitely sleeping till 10am every day.

2011 was a full year! A lot happened last year that definitely helped mold me as a person. Many tears were shed, many laughs shared, much food consumed. But more importantly, I've seen God's hand working in my life and in the lives of those around me.

Some of the struggles from 2011:
-learning how to deal with a wolf in sheep's clothing in your own church (by deal, I mean, learning how to completely rely upon God during such times:).
-managing my time efficiently.
-learning to be patient and forgiving with people when it's hardest.

Some of the highlights from 2011:
-visiting my best friend in Colorado and spending some good quality time with her.
-a 16th birthday surprise!
-making the part-time student Dean's list at my local college.
-seeing a bunch of great people I've met through my online school in June :)

As for this new year, I've only made one resolution! And I'm fairly certain I'll be able to keep it. :) I've decided to give up fast food restaurants. Yep! No more McDonald's, Arby's, Hardee's, Burger King, Wendy's, none of them! I only made a few exceptions, two are fried chicken restaurants (I live in SC y'all, I need some fried chicken), and Five Guys Burgers and Fries, because they have the best burgers ever. :P But my main reason for this resolution is one of my projects this semester was studying the fast food industry. It really opened my eyes, and I just decided that I could live without it! {Translation: The first fast food restaurant I went in after that project made me nauseous, just being in there, so it made sense not to go again.}

Of course, I hope to every week encourage myself to study my Bible more, manage my time more efficiently and try to live my life so others can see the love of Christ through me. I have seen the love of Christ in many this past year, and I want to be an encouragement to those around me as well.

So, here's to a new year, no more fast food, and living for Christ! :)

love you all <3
