dear refuge of my weary soul...

Dear refuge of my weary soul,
On Thee, when sorrows rise
On Thee, when waves of trouble roll,
My fainting hope relies
To Thee I tell each rising grief,
For Thou alone canst heal
Thy Word can bring a sweet relief,
For every pain I feel

But oh! When gloomy doubts prevail,
I fear to call Thee mine
The springs of comfort seem to fail,
And all my hopes decline
Yet gracious God, where shall I flee?
Thou art my only trust
And still my soul would cleave to Thee
Though prostrate in the dust

Hast Thou not bid me seek Thy face,
And shall I seek in vain?
And can the ear of sovereign grace,
Be deaf when I complain?
No still the ear of sovereign grace,
Attends the mourner's prayer
Oh may I ever find access,
To breathe my sorrows there

Thy mercy seat is open still,
Here let my soul retreat
With humble hope attend Thy will,
And wait beneath Thy feet,
Thy mercy seat is open still,
Here let my soul retreat
With humble hope attend Thy will,
And wait beneath Thy feet

This past week has been a rough week for me emotionally, yesterday especially.
I love this song so much and it can comfort me when no one else can.
"Thy word can bring a sweet relief for every pain I feel." <3

first roll

A few weeks ago I saw an old Minolta camera in the thrift store. I got it, and I love it. :) It came with a decent lens already on, so all I had to do was change the batteries and get film! It's a Minolta X-370, and I'm not really sure how old it is. It's and SLR, manual focus. I've been wanting either a DSLR or an SLR camera, but the new ones are just so expensive that I hadn't gotten around to it. So now I have an old SLR. It was cheaper, and it's fun to use. :)

Here are a few pictures from the first roll. Only about 6 of the 24 turned out since I'm still trying to figure out all the settings. :P But I really like how these few turned out.

And I really like this one of the flowers but it was a little overexposed. :/

This is probably my favorite from the bunch. :P

Hope you're all having a splendid week!

a quick hello from the depths of homework

Just kidding, I have more to say than that.

For one of my AP English Language and Composition assignments, I had to analyze a speech. I picked A Time for Choosing by Ronald Reagan. Yeah yeah, cool. It's homework. w/e.

Get this. I have never enjoyed a speech SO MUCH as I enjoyed this one. Mr. Reagan was a brilliant man, with insight and wisdom that our government needs now. Over 40 years ago he gave this speech at the 1964 Republican National Convention, and this speech still addresses current issues in the government. Isn't that groovy?

So I just wanted to share the link to the full speech, and give the video for the first part of his speech, so at least watch to the video, ok? ;)

Here's the link to the full speech.

happy homeworking!
