Charleston and Frank Lloyd Wright

Charleston homes for sale
Rainbow Row
Amongst the long list of things I'm interested in (trust me, it's a long list), architecture is one of my most recent interests. :) Here in Charleston, there are very many different styles of building, and it's very fun for me to walk around the downtown area and look at the lovely houses. At left is a picture of Rainbow Row, a subject of many tourist trinkets (picture here). It's obviously more popular for the pretty colors, but it does remind me of what Charleston would've looked like a while ago. :)

One of my favorite buildings here is Drayton Hall. It's big, open, and very old. I love it. :)

Drayton Hall

It really is a beautiful house, and it's on a lovely bit of land too. ;)

I also really like the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. His designs seem so modern and they really have a unique style. :) My favorite is Falling Water.

It's sooooo pretty, isn't it? :) He designed lots of buildings and houses throughout his career (check out this auditorium too).

Part of me would love to be an architect, but there are so many other things I'd love to do as well, so we'll see. ;)

a tag! :)

I've recieved a tag from lovely miss Valentine! So here goes...

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says:
"The Book Tree is also a useful resource for anyone giving books..." ha, like that's MY book. :) It's my Mom's I think... :)

Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?

The edge of the desk. :P

What is the last thing you watched on TV?

I think we were watching part of a show called "Good Guys", but I only saw the end of it. :)

WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what time it is:

it's time for a nap. (aka 2 o'clock)

Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?

2:14. close enough. :P

With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

My sister emptying the dishwasher and my other sister playing the violin. :)

When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

I was outside maybe...an hour ago. We were shopping. :P

Before you came to this website, what did you look at?

Before I came to Blogger? my email. Before i came to the 'new post' thing? Valentine's blog. :)
What are you wearing?

I'm wearing shorts with sweats on top, and a t-shirt with a pullover (I'm cold!!) :P

Did you dream last night?

Oh my.... I can't remember. I want to say it was something having to do with dancing, but honestly, that might've been me in my pre-sleep delirium. :P

When did you last laugh?

Um... I'm not sure. Usually I'm laughing a lot, but I guess not today. :)

What is on the walls of the room you are in?

(not my bedroom, fyi) Wood panneling (60's style), my parents diplomas, and a bunch of light switches. :P

Seen anything weird lately?

A real live mole crawling around above his earthy dwelling. But then my doggy killed it. :P

What is the last film you saw?

oh boy. i can't remember. I think it was Enchanted... :)

If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?

haha that's a toughie. Right now, I'd buy a pair of cowgirl boots. The real kind. ;)

Tell me something about you that I don't know:

I'm in love with aforementioned John Gage. :P

Do you like to dance?

Like it, definitely. Can I? Nope. :P

Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her? What if it's a boy?

If it's a girl- Liezl, Daphne, Beatrice or Dixie. :) If it's a boy- Kent, Lee, Chevis or George. :P

Well that was fun! Tags usually are. :) And I will tag Grayce and Lauren. Anyone else who wants to do it is welcome! Just let me know so I can go read it. ;)

the shows of ages past . . .

Unless you already know me, you probably don't know how much I really like old music, old tv shows, and old stuff. If you do know me, you know that my "really liking" those things, is more of an obsession. My most recent obsession, is with a tv show from the 70's called Emergency!. I love it. Maybe even too much.

The main two characters are Roy DeSoto (Kevin Tighe) and John Gage (Randy Mantooth), and they are both trained firemen and paramedics. The show also features the doctors and nurses in the ER as well. Throughout the series, there is a variety of events, and it is really an awesome show.

Other shows that most of you probably haven't seen, are Adam-12, Welcome Back, Kotter, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Monkees, and many, many more. I would say I watch too much tv, but I actually watch these on the computer. The website is Hulu.com and it is amazing. Period. And you can find most of those shows on there. :)

Yesterday (Friday), I worked super hard to get all my homework done so that my weekend could be dedicated to watching Emergency! and Adam-12. So far, it's been a success. :P You might be thinking, "What are her parents thinking?". Well, honestly, I don't know. But it's not every Saturday I spend watching shows all day, so I think I'll be OK. :) One "TV-Saturday" every now and then can't hurt anyone, can it? ;)

On Cloud Nine

I love pastor's girl's ponderings, and I've always wanted to do one of the blog hops. What better time to start than when she's starting up a new one? :)

I am supposed to put up a picture of something that makes me happy. What makes me happy? Piano.

This picture was taken while on a vacation with my cousins and aunt and uncle this past summer. Seeing this picture reminds me of the amazing times we had together filming our "tv show", the times we spent singing, and enjoying music. But this piano was gorgeous, and it was so much fun to sit down and play something from memory.

So there is my picture for the week! Maybe I'll even try and do it next week. ;)

p.s. I wrote a post about this piano on my family's blog, so if you want, you can read that post here. :)

the little things

Photography is amazing. I love it. Especially macro pics of tiny things. Or maybe they're not tiny, just detailed. Either way, it's fun, and I thought I'd share some of my pictures of those 'little things'. :)

Yes, I do like mushrooms. And no, I do not know what the little bugs are on that mushroom stump. :P

fog and the spiders

Where I live, fog is not very unusual. This morning there was a lot of it, and lots of moisture in the air. And as my mom and I took the dogs on a walk, we saw so many spiderwebs! When there is so much moisture in the air, the water sticks to the webs, making them very easy to see. It's amazing to think how many we can't see! So of course I had to get my camera and see how many I could get pictures of. Spiderwebs have always fascinated me, and I'm very thankful I was able to get some pictures. :)

I hope you're all having a great weekend!

stained glass

Keith Green was a pianist, singer and songwriter back in the late 70s and early 80s. His music has touched many peoples lives, including mine. I feel I can somehow relate to his story. I play piano, and watching recordings of his songs and seeing how enthusiastic and energetic he was about his faith really encourages me. Here is a link to read his biography.

Of his music, he had many different songs, but one of the ones that has stood out to me the most is his song "Stained Glass". It is such a great analogy, and the music is beautiful. So here are the lyrics, but it really isn't the same as listening to the actual song, so I encourage you to find it and listen to it. :)

Stained Glass
Keith and Melody Green

We are like windows, stained with colors of the rainbow,
Set in a darkened room, till the bridegroom comes to shining through,
Then the colors fall around our feet, over those we meet,
Covering all the gray that we see,
Rainbow colors of assorted hues, come exchange your blues,
For His love that you see shining through me.

We are His daughters and sons,
We are the colorful ones,
We are the kids of the King,
Rejoice in everything.

My colors grow so dim,
When I start to fall away from Him,
Then up comes the strongest wind
That begins to blow me back into his arms again,
And the colors fall around my feet, over those I meet,
Changing all the gray that I see,
Rainbow colors of the Risen Son, reflect the one,
The one who came to set us all free.

We are His daughters and sons,
We are the colorful ones,
We are the kids of the King,
Rejoice in everything.

We are like windows, stained with colors of the rainbow,
No longer set in a darkened room,
cause the bridegroom wants to shine through you,
No longer set in a darkened room,
cause the bridegroom wants to shine through you.

i am the crazy tourist

Those of you who know Spanish, already know what the name of my blog is. If you don't know Spanish, then the title of this post is the blog name translated. As for why I picked that name, I do like to travel, but there is another reason. Our home is not here, it's in heaven. Life is a trip. We're all travelers.

I would love for this blog to be one that is encouraging, interesting, and somehow educational. With me being the author, who knows how successful those ideas will be. As Proverbs 19:21 says, "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand." We'll see how long the blog lasts (or how long I last). ;)

First of all, you'd probably like to know a little bit about me. I am a Christian. Jesus died for my sins, and only by Him am I saved. I believe in predestination, and a 6 24-hour day creation. I am homeschooled. I do some classes online through the best online school out there, but the rest of my school is done on my own. I've decided that in homeschooling, if the student hits high school, and is still not enjoying school and eager to learn on their own, something has gone wrong. There is so much more I could say about myself, but I won't. That can be learned through my future posts. :)

Hopefully that was a nice introduction to who I am. Now you're ready to follow along in my lovely trip of life.
